Dr Roy Rasalam ~ JCU Senior Lecturer

Roy is passionate about undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and aims to develop the next generation of medical practitioners into compassionate health care professionals, high in knowledge, skills and attributes and work ready ; willing to work where the need is greatest and meeting the needs of underserved communities.

Roy works in Public Health Medicine (Queensland Health) and sees adult patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes at his private diabetes & cardiometabolic disease clinic. He has a special interest in diabetes and epidemiology and is co-author of the Diabetes Australia & RACGP type 2 diabetes guidelines. He regularly conducts educational meetings for doctors/HCPs/community on diabetes and cardiometabolic disease.

Roy has experience in Phase 2-4 clinical trials in diabetes and cardiovascular medicine. He was involved in clinical trials for obesity (optifast), diabetes (dapagliflozin, liraglutide) and cardiovascular disease (pravastatin and apixaban). He presents regularly at conferences and is a reviewer for the international journals 'Diabetes Therapy' and 'BMC Public Health.'
