Dr. A. B. M. Rabiul Alam Beg is a senior lecturer at James Cook University Australia. He earned a Bachelor of Honours and a Master’s degree in statistics from the University of Rajshahi Bangladesh, a Master’s Economics Honours degree from the University of Sydney and a PhD in Econometrics from LaTrobe University, Melbourne. Prior to joining James Cook University in 2000, Dr.Beg taught Statistics and Econometrics at the University of New England, statistics at LaTrobe University, Tripoli University, and at the University of Rajshahi. His teaching include Statistics, Econometrics, and Financial Econometrics. Dr. Beg is a recipient of the Pro Vice Chancellor's teaching award in 2007. He is also a recipient of Inclusive practice award by the Vice-Chancellor & President Professor Sandra Harding of JCU in 2008. Dr.Beg is a recipient of the Vice-Chancellor's  Award Certificate and a Medal of Honor for 20 years active teaching and research at JCU. 

 

Dr. Beg is a co-author of a recently published  teaching Textbook ‘Essentials of Business Statistics – communicating with numbers’. He has written a number of articles in various internationally reputed journals. Dr. Beg’s research interest include Statistical methods and Cointegration, Econometrics of modeling and forecasting volatility of returns and  returns spillovers, duration modeling  of financial time series, panel data models and, theory and empirics  of  sustainable growth.

Dr. Beg is an editorial board member of International journals of statistical sciences and a member of the econometric society.
