About

Prof Peter S. Hofman's research focuses on corporate social responsbility, energy transition, eco-innovation, sustainability strategy and corporate governance. Recent research explored institutional and relational antecedents for eco-innovation in firms, reassessed the conceptualisation of socio-emotional wealth and its relevance for family firms in the Asian context, is looking at the nature of energy transition within the Asian context, and investigates the distinct nature of corporate social responsibility in Chinese firms relative to firms in Europe and the US.

He has successfully led research grants in the areas of corporate social responsibility and human resource management, eco-innovation and supply chain collaboration in Chinese firms, and finance mechanisms for diffusion of clean technologies. He previously received grants from the Dutch National Scientific Council for research on system innovation in the energy sector, was involved in European Union funded projects on innovation and environmental management, and supported provincial efforts toward developing a roadmap for low carbon futures.

Prof Hofman has been involved in the evaluation of various technology policy programmes and environmental policy programmes of the Ministries of Economic Affairs and Environmental Affairs in the Netherlands and was an advisor to the National Energy Council of the Netherlands. More recently, he was an international expert for a project of the Asian Development Bank and the Development Research Center of the State Council of China on improving energy efficiency in the Chinese manufacturing industry and was an international member of a policy study on Corporate Social Responsibility for Green Development for the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development.
