Dr Joyce Cooper is a registered pharmacist who has been working in the pharmacy profession for over 25 years. Dr Cooper completed her PhD in Clinical Pharmacology which focused on the factors that contribute to serotonin toxicity following drug overdose.
Dr Cooper is an Associate Professor - Pharmacy Practice and teaches in the Bachelor of Pharmacy (honours) program at James Cook University. Her teaching is focused mainly around contemporary pharmacy practice and her background in hospital and community pharmacy practice provides relevance and clinical context to her teaching.
Dr Cooper’s ongoing research focuses on the quality and safe use of medicines. She currently supervises a number of PhD and research Masters students and also supervises students undertaking Bachelor of Pharmacy honours projects.
Dr Cooper is a Fellow of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists (FSHP) of Australia.
