About

Associate Professor Dr. Adam Voak is an International Human Capability Development specialist who applies his 25+ years of experience across Australia and the ASEAN region to assist organisations and governments harness their workforces’ power. More recently, Adam facilitated the design, development and implementation of Indonesia’s first Industry Reference Council, the Indonesian Supply Chain and Logistics Industry Reference Council, funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Education and Training through an Enabling Growth and Innovation Programs Grant.

Adam was also contracted as a Senior Transport Consultant for the ARISE+ program, working with the European Union, Senior ASEAN Government Officials, the ASEAN Secretariat and a group of Industry Representatives across all ten ASEAN nations. Their task is the implementation and operationalisation of the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Multimodal Transport.

Adam is working to critically understand the role of capability and talent development in supporting local economic and social advancement through improving public services. In addition, he closely observes and facilitates the development of individuals, communities, and organisations to build and support independent sustainable growth at the local level. As a trained lawyer, Adam is acutely aware of the global geopolitical and legal constructs and policy initiatives needed to support local skills formation. Including the development issues associated with eradicating gender inequalities, empowering indigenous and ethnic minority communities through skills development, fostering human well-being, and maintaining sustainable livelihoods through meaningful employment.

As adjunct Associate Professor at the Cairns Institute at James Cook University and as a CITBA Research Fellow at James Cook University Singapore, Adam is currently working closely with colleagues to investigate the concepts of global citizenry, cross border human capability mobility and the role of interculturalism in international trade and investment. Dr. Voak additionally holds Fellowships with the Institute of Occupational Learning and Training, the Society of Education and Training, the International Specialised Skills Institute and the Institute of Equality and Diversity Professionals. Adam is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Australia and a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory.
