Dr Murray Prideaux is a lecturer in the College of Business, Law & Governance at James Cook University, Townsville, He received a Ph.D. from James Cook University (2006), MBA from James Cook University (1996), BBus (Transport and Logistics) from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (1992), and an Associcate Diploma of Business from James Cook University (1984).

Dr Prideaux is particularly interested in leadership and management in developing nations in the tropical environment. His research encompasses leadership-as-practice, context, health services leadership, organisational strategy and change in developing nations. He is also interested in leadership in international development, leadership in disater situations and leadership of major motor sports events.  He is currently involved in leadership research projects in PNG Thailand, and Australia. 

Dr Prideaux is a Principle Investigator investigating leadership in Papua New Guinea (PNG) particurarly in the health and education sectors.

Dr Prideaux’s research is part of a long-term research endeavour investigating context, practice, process and associated issues and barriers influencing and impacting leadership in the Asia Pacific region.  The research aims to uncover leadership practice through the emerging ‘worldly’ perspective to challenge the conventional Western leadership normative discourse to deepen our understanding of leadership from a global perspective.

Dr Prideaux has presented papers at international and national conferences and published in the fields of leadership, health leadership, strategic management and major sports and events. He is a reviewer for the Leadership & Organization Development Journal.

Dr Prideaux has consulted extensively in the area of quality management and organisational change to domestic and international organisations and local government councils in Queensland. He has delivered tertiary education programs and industry workshops to a cross-section of organisations in Australia and internationally.

Dr Prideaux is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILTA) served on the National Council in Australia for six years and is Chair of the North Queensland Section. He is a serving officer in the Australian Army Reserve, holding the rank of Major
