About

My passion is focused on arthropods. Most of my research has been focused on animal behaviour, sexual selection and using multiple disciplines to close the gap between basic and applied science. I am an environmental biologist from Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Colombia. I conducted research on the sexual behaviour of the moth Drymoea viliterna. Following that, I pursued a master's degree in biological sciences at Los Andes University (Bogota, Colombia), where I focused on analysing the courtship and mating behaviour of the Tetragnathidae species Leucauge mariana. This study encompassed populations from both Colombia and Costa Rica.

Upon completing my master's degree, I pursued a PhD at James Cook University in Cairns, Australia. During my doctoral studies, I researched the behaviour, physiology, and venom composition of Australian funnel-web spiders. Specifically, I aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the ecological role of venom in Australian funnel-web spiders, considering various factors.
