About

Dr Kerry Russo is the Associate Dean, Learning & Teaching at James Cook University, College of Business, Law and Governance. Prior to taking up the position of Associate Dean, Kerry was a teacher, TAFE campus manager and educational designer. Kerry developed and implemented the online education design of the Bachelor of Business and built staff capacity in teaching online. Her role as Associate Dean includes leading the development of a learning and teaching culture committed to excellence, innovation and a positive student experience. Kerry works with academics in developing positive student learning experiences and student engagement approaches. Kerry is researching the digital divide and digital fluency. She found the divide is predicated on differing digital skills not access to digital devices. Kerry identified, resourcing schools with laptops without a digital curriculum, did not increase digital fluency. Kerry’s research established appropriately resourcing school advances digital fluency. An experienced educator, Kerry’s social justice values demonstrates a commitment to equality in quality education.
