Mr Chris Myers ~ Lecturer - Neurological Physiotherapy

Christopher Myers is a Lecturer within the Physiotherapy discipline at James Cook University (JCU). As a physiotherapy graduate of JCU in 2014, he has gone onto complete his physiotherapy Honours in 2017, being awarded first class. Chris is a registered physiotherapist in Australia since 2015, with his current role spread across teaching neurological physiotherapy subjects, clinical education, physiotherapy discipline marketing and research.

Chris has taught into and been subject coordinator within the College of Healthcare Sciences from first year multidisciplinary subjects through to physiotherapy capstone subjects. As a clinical educator within the Clinical Practice Building (Bebegu Yumba campus), he facilitates learning opportunities year-round for second and third-year physiotherapy students and has supervised medical students on observational placement. Chris is currently supervising physiotherapy Honours students, with his interests including male and pelvic health, neurological rehabilitation, and paediatrics. He is undertaking his PhD studies at the University of Canberra, investigating the effect of strenuous exercise on the male pelvic floor, associated risk and behavioural profiling, and the subsequent impact it has on an individual’s health.

Chris assisted with an international consensus group of clinicians and researchers responsible for developing aquatic exercise guidelines for people living with Parkinson’s disease, and regularly peer reviews for several scientific journals. He is currently involved with several research projects, including a collaboration with Monash University researchers.
